Once you have decided that you want to use a wood chipper in your yard, you will want to know how to use it. Here are some steps to follow;
Before you start using the machine, you need to make sure that the work area is free of any debris. You also need to make sure that the work area is free of holes. These holes can be a hazard factor as you may fall during the work.
Make sure the path is clear enough. Find out the area where the machine will discharge the chips. Preparing and cleaning the work area will also help to avoid foreign objects from passing through the wood chipper.

Product Analysis

The chip chute and deflector help you adjust the direction and distance that the wood chips are thrown. You don't want the chips to be thrown too close or too far from the machine, causing danger. There are two clamping knobs on the deflector that can be easily adjusted to adjust the distance.
If you are using other equipment, such as a tractor, to tow the wood chipper, always set the parking brake so that the tractor does not move. The parking brake should be set before starting the machine.
If you are using a gas-powered wood chipper, always check that there is enough gasoline and that the engine has enough oil first. If you are using oil, make sure that there is enough oil as well. In addition, make sure that the crushing chamber and turbine are empty. If you find that these places are not empty, be aware that there is a risk of overloading your starting device.

You also need to make sure the feeding tool (a stick to be exact) is not inside the hopper. Check the safety gate to verify that it is closed. You also need to verify that the chipper's safety switch is engaged. If it is not engaged, the chipper may not start.
Wood chippers are efficient with blunt ends, so always feed the thickest side first. This way, the wood chipper can fully grip the wood. But be careful not to feed the wood chipper with a larger load than recommended. If you neglect this, the chipper may reverse and spill material back at you, causing blunt force trauma or dangerous flying debris that can cut you in the process.
