Raw Material Pretreatment Precautions for Wood Pellet Machine Processing
Wood chip pellet machine precautions
First and foremost, pay close attention to the pretreatment of damp granules, as this is an area where many users make mistakes. If you encounter slightly damp granules (slightly sticky to the touch, not severely clumped), do not feed them directly into the equipment. First, spread them out in a ventilated area to dry for 1-2 hours, turning them 1-2 times during this period to allow surface moisture to evaporate. Then, use a sieve to remove severely clumped and powdery granules. Slightly clumped granules can be gently crushed by hand before sieving, ensuring that all granules entering the equipment are loose. If the granules are severely damp (softened, powdery, heavily clumped), they must be thoroughly dried first and absolutely cannot be processed directly, otherwise it will severely clog the equipment and accelerate wear on the pressure rollers and molds. After pretreatment, check by touch; they should feel dry and loose to be considered合格 (qualified).
Secondly, precise control of the raw material moisture content is crucial for ensuring successful molding. Whether the raw material is dry or damp after pretreatment, the moisture content must be controlled between 12% and 15%. Excessive moisture content will cause the raw material to clump together in the pressing chamber, increasing the load on the Industrial Wood Pellet Machine and making the pellets prone to cracking. Insufficient moisture content results in insufficient viscosity, requiring greater pressing pressure and accelerating component wear. Besides using professional instruments, moisture content can also be determined by hand: grab a handful of raw material, squeeze it tightly, and if it naturally disperses after releasing, leaving no obvious water residue on your hand, it's acceptable. If it clumps and doesn't disperse, the moisture content is too high and needs drying. If it crumbles easily and produces a lot of dust, the moisture content is too low and requires appropriate water spraying.

Impurity removal and particle size screening of the raw material are also crucial. Wood chips often contain hard impurities such as nails, stones, and sand. These impurities can directly scratch the pressing rollers and crack the molds of the small Biomass Pellet Machine. A dual impurity removal process of "vibrating screen primary screening + magnetic separator fine screening" is necessary to ensure the raw material is clean and free of impurities. Regarding particle size, the raw material should be controlled to 2-5mm after crushing. Overly large particles can easily clog the die cavities, while underly small particles increase energy consumption and affect particle hardness. A grading sieve can be used to screen the crushed raw material to ensure uniform particle size. For example, when processing hardwood chips, secondary crushing is necessary to avoid exceeding particle size limits and causing processing difficulties.

Finally, a reminder: do not mix different raw materials indiscriminately. Softwood chips (pine, fir) and hardwood chips (oak, birch) have significantly different properties. When mixing them, the ratio must be controlled (softwood should account for no less than 60%), and equipment parameters should be adjusted accordingly. Avoid mixing corrosive raw materials with ordinary wood chips to prevent corrosion of equipment components. Pre-treated raw materials should be processed promptly to prevent re-absorbing moisture and affecting subsequent production.
