1. Strong adaptability to raw materials: It is specially designed for biomass raw materials such as wood sawdust, straw, bagasse, rice husks and other biomass materials. No binder is needed. It relies on lignin to soften and bind together under the heat of extrusion friction (60–80℃).

 

2. Roller gap adjustment: The spacing between the press roller and the ring die can be precisely adjusted through the top bolts to accommodate wood chips of different hardness.

 

3. High particle density: The particle density after molding can reach 1.1–1.3 g/cm³, with high calorific value, not easily broken, and easy to store and transport.

 

4. Stable forming rate: The ring die + multi-roller structure provides high pressure, with a wood sawdust forming rate of ≥95% and low pulverization rate.

 

Working Principle of the Ring-Die Biomass Granulator

 

The small ring die wood pellet making machine is equipped with two wear-resistant pressure rollers. The rollers have a toothed surface to enhance material gripping ability and prevent slippage. Wood sawdust are drawn into the gradually narrowing gap between the rollers and the mould, and are also initially compacted under friction, expelling air from the raw material and withstanding high pressure of 50–100 MPa. Simultaneously, intense friction generates heat, raising the temperature to 60–80°C. The lignin in the wood chips softens under heat, acting as a natural binder to bind cellulose, hemicellulose, and other components together, forming a plastic state. The plastic wood chips are then forcefully extruded into the cylindrical die holes on the ring die, where they are continuously pressurized and shaped, finally being continuously extruded from the other end of the die hole to form long, cylindrical pellets.

1. Crushing process

2. Transportation process
The spiral conveyor transports the wood chips raw materials to the dryer.
 
3. Drying process
The wood chip dryer processes the raw materials for drying. After drying, the moisture content is controlled at approximately 15%.
 
4. Pelletizing process
The biomass pellet forming machine is the core equipment of the production line. It can grind wood chips, straw, reed, coconut shells, bamboo and wood, birch, pine, sugarcane residue, peanut shells, and mixed raw materials into biomass pellets with a diameter of 6 - 12 millimeters. The density of the finished pellets can reach 1.0 - 1.3 tons per cubic meter.
 
5. Cooling process
The surface temperature of the newly formed biomass particles is approximately 80℃. The cooler cools them down to room temperature.
 
6. Weighing and packaging
The packaging equipment is used to weigh the finished biomass pellets according to standardized weights, and then place them into packaging bags.
