Wood Briquette Press Machine vs Wood Fuel Pellet Making Machine: A Detailed Comparison

content

While both sawdust log presses and small wood fuel pellet making machines process biomass raw materials and aim to mold loose materials into high-density fuel, their design logic, processing technology, and application scenarios differ significantly. Accurate differentiation can prevent incorrect selection. Firstly, there are structural differences: sawdust press machines utilize a screw extrusion or hydraulic extrusion structure, relying on the cooperation of a forming sleeve and a screw shaft to extrude the raw material. They also require a heating device to soften the lignin and ensure rod-shaped molding. Wood pellet machines, on the other hand, mostly employ flat or ring die structures, using pressure rollers and dies for high-pressure extrusion molding. Some ring die models are equipped with conditioners to adjust the moisture content of the raw material, eliminating the need for forced heating, and their structure is more geared towards continuous production.

The differences in processing parameters and finished product characteristics are even more pronounced. Regarding raw material requirements, the briquette extruder machine has extremely strict control over the moisture content of the raw materials, requiring it to be maintained between 8% and 12%. Excessive moisture content can easily lead to cracking of the finished product, while insufficient moisture content results in high extrusion resistance and rapid equipment wear. The small biomass pellet maker machine has a wider moisture content tolerance range (12%-15%) and a higher tolerance for errors. In terms of particle size requirements, both require raw material particle sizes of 2-5mm, but the briquette machine is more sensitive to the fiber content of the raw materials; sawdust and straw with high fiber content are easier to form. The wood pellet machine, on the other hand, is more adaptable to mixed raw materials (such as sawdust + straw). In terms of finished product form, the briquette machine produces solid rod-shaped fuel with a diameter of 20-50mm and adjustable length, with a higher density (1.1-1.3g/cm³) and stronger combustion resistance. The wood pellet machine produces pellet-shaped fuel with a diameter of 6-12mm, good flowability, easy automated feeding, and is suitable for large-scale equipment.

The application scenarios and profit logic also differ. Wood chip briquette presses produce fuel that can be burned directly, making them more suitable for small to medium-sized heating and barbecue applications. Their core profit lies in processing fuel rods or further carbonizing them into charcoal, resulting in higher added value and making them suitable for individual entrepreneurs and small workshops. Small wood fuel pellet making machines for home use focus on large-scale energy supply, connecting with heating companies, power plants, and large factories. Their profit model relies on bulk sales, making them suitable for large-scale production line setups. Furthermore, briquette machines require lower investment (small equipment costs 10,000-50,000 RMB) and have a small footprint, making them suitable for family workshops. Small wood pellet machines require 50,000-100,000 RMB in investment, while large-scale production lines require hundreds of thousands of RMB, demanding higher levels of capital and space.

These two are not competitors but rather complementary. Some large biomass processing companies simultaneously operate wood shavings briquette makers and wood pellet machines, producing fuel rods and pellet fuels respectively based on raw material characteristics and market demand, maximizing the use of raw material resources and covering different market segments.
