What is the difference between a sawdust briquette making machine and a wood chip pellet maker?
content
The most fundamental difference between the two lies in the characteristics of the finished product, which is also the essential difference in their equipment design logic. The sawdust briquette press machine produces block-shaped fuel with a diameter of 20-50mm and a length of 5-20cm, with a high density of 1.1-1.3g/cm³. It has a long burning time (3-5 hours per block), is resistant to storage and transportation, and is not easily broken, making it suitable for small to medium-sized heating systems, outdoor barbecues, and machine-made charcoal processing. Wood pellet processing equipment produces pellet-shaped fuel with a diameter of 6-12mm and a density of 0.8-1.0g/cm³. It has good flowability, facilitates automated feeding, and is suitable for large-scale scenarios such as large-scale heating systems and biomass power generation units.
The differences in equipment structure and parameter control are also significant. To achieve block-shaped molding, wood shavings briquette makers require more powerful pressure rollers and thicker molds, with molding pressure controlled at 10-30 MPa. They must also be equipped with heating devices (160-200℃) to forcibly soften the lignin. Wood pellet mills, on the other hand, have molding pressures of only 5-15 MPa. Most models do not require forced heating, relying solely on frictional heat to meet molding needs. Their molds have smaller orifices and higher precision, preventing pellet clogging. Furthermore, wood briquette machines have larger feed auger diameters to accommodate the raw material requirements of block molding, while wood pellet grinding machines prioritize uniform and precise feeding devices, suitable for continuous pellet production.
The application scenarios and profit logic also differ. Wood waste briquette machines have a low investment threshold (small-scale equipment costs 10,000-50,000 RMB), suitable for individual entrepreneurs and rural cooperatives. Their core profit comes from processing block fuel or further carbonizing it into charcoal, resulting in higher added value. Wood fuel pellet making machines require 50,000-100,000 RMB for small-scale equipment, and hundreds of thousands of RMB for large-scale production lines. They are suitable for corporate setups, and their profit model relies on bulk sales of pellet fuel, emphasizing economies of scale. The two are not competitors; some large processing plants will simultaneously install both types of equipment to produce different forms of fuel according to market demand, maximizing the utilization of raw material resources.
In terms of raw material adaptability, wood dust briquetting machines have a higher tolerance for raw material particle size and moisture content, and can process raw materials with low fiber content and loose texture (such as straw and peanut shells). Wood pellet machines, on the other hand, have poor adaptability to such raw materials and are prone to forming difficulties.
