How to Store Fuel Produced by small home use biomass wood Pellet mill?

content

The core principles for fuel storage in biomass sawdust pellet machine production are "moisture-proof, ventilation, light-proof, and away from open flames." Different scales require different solutions based on production capacity and site conditions. Firstly, for small-batch home storage (less than 500kg per batch), suitable for self-sufficient family users using biomass pellet machines, two simple solutions are recommended: One is sealed bag + cardboard box storage. Pack the cooled pellets to room temperature into thickened PE sealed bags, approximately 50kg per bag, seal the bags tightly, and then place them in a dry cardboard box. Elevate the bottom of the cardboard box by 10-15cm with wooden blocks to prevent contact with ground moisture. The second is dedicated storage bins. Use metal or food-grade plastic storage bins with sealed lids. Place 1-2 bags of desiccant inside the bin, seal it tightly, and place it in a dry, well-ventilated place such as a balcony or warehouse. Reseal the bin immediately after each use to prevent humid air from entering.

For small-scale workshop storage (1-5 tons per batch), suitable for users of homemade sawdust pellet machines with a daily production of 1-3 tons. A "simple storage silo + sealed cover" solution is recommended: Construct a simple steel-structured storage silo on a level site. The bottom of the silo should be moisture-proofed (using waterproof membrane and a concrete base layer), and ventilation openings should be provided on the sides (with closable louvers installed). After the pellets are loaded into the silo, cover the top and sides with waterproof tarpaulin, pressing the edges firmly to prevent rainwater seepage. During storage, open the ventilation openings regularly, especially after rainy days, to prevent moisture buildup inside the silo. Simultaneously, equip the silo with small conveying equipment for easy material retrieval, reducing the risk of moisture entering due to frequent opening of the cover.

This solution is suitable for large-scale factory storage (single storage of 10 tons or more), and is ideal for manufacturers producing charcoal coal big pellet making machines with a daily output of 5 tons or more. Professional, sealed storage silos are required. The silos should be constructed of steel or concrete and equipped with moisture-proof, ventilation, and temperature monitoring systems. A moisture-proof and ventilated grate should be installed at the bottom, connected to a blower for regular ventilation and dehumidification. A rainproof canopy and exhaust vents should be installed at the top to expel hot and humid air from the silo. Temperature sensors should be installed inside the silo to monitor the temperature in real time and prevent spontaneous combustion of the granules (excessive granule stacking can easily lead to self-fermentation and heat generation). An automated feeding and discharging system should also be used to reduce the entry of moisture due to manual operation. Before storage, ensure that the granules are cooled to room temperature (≤25℃) and have a moisture content ≤10% to reduce the risk of spoilage from the source.

General Precautions: Regardless of the storage scale, avoid direct contact between the granules and the ground or walls; maintain a distance of at least 10cm. Keep away from open flames, heat sources (such as radiators and stoves), and hazardous chemicals. Regularly check the condition of the granules; if slight moisture absorption is found, spread them out for ventilation and drying. Ensure that the granules are completely cooled before storage to prevent condensation and moisture absorption when hot granules are placed in sealed containers.
