How to Set the Right Temperature for a Biomass Wood Pellet Machine Based on Raw Materials?

First, let's clarify the core principle: the purpose of adjusting the temperature of a home use pellet mill wood pelletizer is to fully soften the lignin in the raw material, forming a binder and ensuring pellet formation.

The temperature range for lignin softening is generally 70-110℃. Different raw materials have different lignin contents and hardness, requiring specific temperature adjustments. Let's look at the most common softwood chips (pine, cedar). These raw materials have high lignin content and good adhesion, making them the easiest to process. A temperature of 75-85℃ is sufficient. When adjusting, first set the temperature to 80℃ and test process for 10 minutes. If the pellet surface is smooth and the hardness is moderate, maintain this temperature; if the pellets are loose, increase the temperature by 5℃ until the desired pellet formation is achieved.

Particle type classification

1. These raw materials have high hardness and relatively low lignin content, requiring higher temperatures to soften the lignin. It is recommended to adjust the temperature of the industrial wood pellet machine to 90-105℃. When processing hardwood, too low a temperature will cause the pellets to become loose and prone to cracking, while too high a temperature will cause the raw material to carbonize, affecting combustion efficiency. Practical Tips: First, set the temperature to 95℃ and observe the pellet formation. If cracks appear, the temperature is insufficient. Increase the temperature by 3℃ each time until the cracks disappear. Simultaneously, increase the roller speed to ensure the raw material is fully heated within the pressing chamber. For example, when processing oak sawdust, setting the temperature to 98℃ achieves the required pellet hardness, and the calorific value can reach over 4500 kcal/kg.

2. For straw raw materials (corn stalks, wheat straw), these materials have high fiber content and fluctuate significantly in moisture content, requiring more precise temperature control. It is recommended to control the temperature between 85-95℃. When the straw moisture content is high (close to 15%), the temperature can be appropriately increased to 95℃ to help the moisture evaporate quickly. When the moisture content is low (below 12%), the Wood Chip Fuel Pellet Machine temperature should be controlled between 85-90℃ to avoid high temperatures causing fiber embrittlement and affecting pellet formation. During adjustment, pay attention to the feeding speed, maintaining a uniform low-speed feed to allow the straw sufficient time to soften within the pressing chamber.

3. Temperature control of mixed raw materials: If processing multiple raw materials simultaneously, set the temperature based on the raw material with the highest proportion, and then fine-tune it according to the molding situation. For example, if the softwood chips account for 70% and the hardwood chips account for 30%, first use 80℃ for the softwood as a baseline. If the particles are slightly loose after trial processing, increase the temperature by 5℃. Key reminder: When changing raw materials, first adjust the temperature of the electric flat die pellet mill to the corresponding range, run it idle for 5 minutes to allow the temperature to stabilize before feeding the material, to avoid temperature fluctuations that may cause unstable particle quality.
