How to Compress Sawdust with a Small Wood Shavings Briquette Machine?

The key to using a small sawdust briquette machine for compressing wood chips lies in controlling four major stages: pretreatment, equipment debugging, feeding and forming, and cooling and storage. Optimizing operation based on the machine's structural characteristics ensures both the quality of the compressed blocks and extends the machine's lifespan.

Preliminary preparations

First, preparation is crucial, requiring consideration of both raw materials and equipment. Raw material pretreatment involves crushing the wood chips to a particle size of 2-8mm, removing hard impurities such as stones and metal, and controlling the moisture content to 8%-15%. Wet wood chips can be naturally air-dried or processed using a small dryer. For dry wood chips, a small amount of water can be sprayed to adjust the moisture level; the standard for judging dryness is that the chips can be formed into a clump when squeezed in the hand but crumble easily when lightly touched. Equipment preparation involves checking the lubrication level and the gap between the pressure rollers and the die holes to ensure there is no jamming. For hydraulic briquette makers, the hydraulic system's sealing needs to be checked. For flat-plate models, ensure the cutter is securely installed. Then, connect the power and run the machine idle for 3-5 minutes to preheat the forming cavity to 160-180℃ (for models with a heating function).

Operating steps of biomass briquette press machine

Formal compression operations must be performed gradually to avoid malfunctions caused by improper operation. The first step is uniform feeding. Pre-treated sawdust is fed into the equipment's hopper manually or through a small hopper. The feeding speed must match the equipment's capacity; for a 500kg/hour model, it should be controlled at 60-80kg/h. This prevents overloading the equipment due to excessively fast feeding or reducing compression efficiency due to excessively slow feeding. The mixing device in the hopper must be kept running to prevent sawdust accumulation and bridging.

The second step is molding monitoring. After the sawdust enters the molding cavity, the small biomass briquette making machine applies high pressure (10-20MPa) through roller pressing or spiral extrusion, combined with high temperature, to soften and bind the lignin, forming columnar blocks that are extruded from the die. The condition of the compressed blocks must be observed in real time. If loosening or cracking occurs, the pressure or temperature should be adjusted promptly.

The third step is cutting and cooling. The columnar blocks are cut into 5-15cm blocks of fuel by a cutter. The cutter speed can be adjusted as needed to ensure uniform length. Newly formed briquettes, exceeding 100℃, must be placed in a ventilated area to cool naturally or cooled with a small fan to prevent moisture absorption and deterioration. After cooling, check the briquette density (standard value 1.0-1.2 g/cm³). Qualified products can be stored; unqualified products can be crushed and re-compressed.

At the end of operation, thoroughly clean the equipment. After turning off the power, clean any residual sawdust from the feed channel, forming cavity, and die holes to prevent hardening and clumping that could affect future use. Also, check the wear of easily worn parts such as the pressure rollers and cutters, and lubricate and maintain them as needed. This is crucial for ensuring the long-term stable operation of the small wood chip briquette press machine.
