Methods to increase production capacity

 

First, consider softwood sawdust raw materials (pine, fir, poplar). These materials have high lignin content, good viscosity, and low hardness, making them easy to mold and relatively lenient in machine requirements. If the raw material is mainly softwood sawdust, with a production capacity requirement of 0.5-3 tons/hour, a conventional sawdust pellet making machine is sufficient. Core configuration selection: die hole diameter 6-8mm, gap between pressure roller and die 0.1-0.3mm, motor power 37-75kW; no additional special components are needed. Advantages: Softwood raw materials are easy to mold, the equipment has low energy consumption, slow wear of vulnerable parts, and low maintenance costs. Precautions: Softwood fibers are long, so a model with an anti-winding design on the feeding spiral is required to prevent material entanglement and feeding difficulties. A wood processing plant using pine sawdust as raw material selected a conventional ring die machine with a capacity of 2 tons/hour, achieving a molding rate of 96% and a pressure roller lifespan of up to 1200 hours.

 

Next, consider hardwood sawdust raw materials (oak, birch, elm). These materials are hard, low in lignin, and difficult to form, requiring high wear resistance and pressing pressure from the machine. If the raw material is primarily hardwood sawdust, regardless of production capacity, a "reinforced" biomass pellet making machine should be selected. Key configuration requirements: The pressure rollers and molds should be made of high-strength, wear-resistant materials, hardened to improve hardness and wear resistance; the pressing pressure should be 20%-30% higher than conventional models (conventional models 10-15MPa, reinforced models 15-20MPa) to ensure thorough extrusion; a slightly higher motor power should be selected, for example, a 75kW motor for a conventional machine with a capacity of 2 tons/hour, and a 90kW motor for a hardwood-specific machine to avoid overload. Precautions: Hardwood processing generates high temperatures; therefore, a machine with a forced cooling system should be selected to reduce the temperature of the molds and pressure rollers and prevent carbonization of the raw material.

 

For straw raw materials (corn stalks, wheat stalks, peanut shells), these materials have high fiber content, low density, and poor viscosity. Ordinary wood chip pellet machines easily result in looseness, cracking, and low production capacity. Therefore, a "straw-specific biomass pellet machine" is necessary. Core configuration optimizations include: an anti-slip textured roller surface to increase friction with the raw material; a tapered die design to reduce feeding resistance; and the addition of a raw material pretreatment device (such as a conditioner) to enhance the raw material's viscosity through water spraying and heating. Production capacity selection: For small-scale processing (0.3-0.8 tons/hour), a small straw-specific flat die machine is suitable; for large-scale processing (1-3 tons/hour), a medium-sized straw-specific ring die machine is recommended. One farmer, using corn stalks as raw material, initially processed them with an ordinary flat die machine, achieving a forming rate of only 75%. After switching to a straw-specific flat die machine, the forming rate increased to 92%, and the production capacity increased from 0.3 tons/hour to 0.5 tons/hour.
