Considerations for processing different materials with a multifunctional biomass sawdust pellet machine

Precautions for processing softwood chips (pine, fir, poplar): Softwood chips have the advantages of high lignin content, good adhesion, and easy shaping, but the fibers are long and easily entangle in the equipment.

Pre-treatment should focus on: controlling the particle size after crushing to 2-4mm to avoid excessively long fibers entangled in the feeding auger; thorough impurity removal is essential, as soft softwood chips easily harbor impurities, requiring double screening.

Biomass fuel pellet machine parameter adjustments: temperature 75-85℃, pressure 10-12MPa, feeding speed can be set to 80%-90% of rated capacity. During processing, clean the feed inlet to prevent fiber entanglement and feeding obstruction; for equipment maintenance, clean the fiber residue on the pressure roller surface and replenish lubricating grease every 200 hours of operation.

Precautions for processing hardwood chips (oak, birch, elm): Hardwood chips have high hardness and low lignin content, making shaping difficult and causing severe wear on the equipment. Pre-treatment is crucial: Secondary crushing is necessary to ensure uniform particle size of 3-5mm; 20%-30% softwood chips can be mixed in to improve the raw material's viscosity.

Biomass Sawdust Pellet Machine parameter adjustments: Temperature 90-105℃, pressure 13-15MPa, feed speed reduced by 20%-30%, using low-speed, uniform feeding to allow the raw material to fully soften under heat within the pressing chamber. More frequent equipment maintenance is required: Check the wear of the pressure rollers and dies every 150 hours, and promptly grind or replace any worn parts; replenish the pressure roller bearings with high-temperature grease every 100 hours of operation to reduce wear.

Precautions for processing mixed sawdust: The proportion of mixed sawdust (softwood + hardwood, sawdust + straw) must be carefully controlled to avoid significant differences in properties leading to unstable molding. It is recommended that the softwood chip content be no less than 60%, and the hardwood content no more than 40%; when mixing sawdust and straw, the straw content should not exceed 30%, and the straw must be pre-crushed to 2-3mm. During pretreatment, different raw materials must be thoroughly mixed evenly to avoid localized areas of excessive hardness or softness.

Flat die wood pellet mill parameter adjustment: Use the raw material with the highest proportion as a baseline. For example, if softwood accounts for 70% and hardwood for 30%, use the basic parameters for softwood (temperature 80℃, pressure 11MPa) as a baseline. Increase the temperature by 5℃ and the pressure by 0.5MPa. Closely observe the pellet formation during processing. If localized looseness occurs, it indicates uneven mixing, and the mixing process needs adjustment.

Precautions for processing special wood chips (containing resin, high moisture content): For resin-containing wood chips (such as pine and cypress), the resin easily melts and sticks to the mold during processing. The temperature should be lowered by 5-10℃, and the mold holes should be cleaned promptly after processing to prevent resin solidification and blockage. For wood chips with high moisture content, they must first be thoroughly dried to a moisture content of 12%-15%, treated according to the pretreatment process for slightly damp pellets, and then the parameters adjusted accordingly. Regardless of the type of wood chips processed, production records must be kept, including raw material type, proportion, parameter settings, and particle quality, to facilitate subsequent optimization of processing plans.
