Wood Pellet Raw Material Storage and Preservation Tips
content
The core principles of raw material storage for small flat die wood pellet making machines are "moisture prevention, mold prevention, and impurity prevention." Appropriate storage methods must be selected based on the type and moisture content of the raw materials to avoid quality degradation. Storage sites must be dry, well-ventilated, elevated, and away from water sources. The ground should be hardened with cement and covered with wooden blocks (raised 10-15cm) to prevent the raw materials from absorbing moisture. Warehouses should be equipped with ventilation equipment (such as exhaust fans) to maintain air circulation and reduce indoor humidity. During the rainy season, desiccants (such as calcium chloride) can be placed for further moisture prevention.
Different raw materials require different storage methods. Fine-particle raw materials such as sawdust are prone to absorbing moisture and clumping. It is recommended to use sealed storage silos or waterproof woven bags for storage. The stacking height of woven bags should not exceed 10 layers to prevent the bottom layer of raw materials from clumping under pressure. Ventilation gaps should be left, and the raw materials should be turned over regularly to prevent localized mold growth. Loose raw materials such as branches and straw can be stored in the open air, with rain shelters erected to protect them from rain and snow. When stacking, they should be categorized and zoned, with a height not exceeding 2 meters to avoid compaction and difficulty in crushing. Regular inspections should be conducted, and moldy parts should be removed promptly to prevent their spread.
Raw material storage must follow the "first-in, first-out" principle. Pre-treated raw materials should not be stored for more than 24 hours, and untreated raw materials should not be stored for more than 7 days, especially high-moisture raw materials (such as fresh straw and wet sawdust), which should be processed as soon as possible to prevent mold growth. During storage, the moisture content of the raw materials should be tested regularly. If the moisture content exceeds 15%, it should be spread out to dry or oven-dried to ensure compatibility with the processing requirements of the small wood fuel pellet making machine. If mold is found, slightly moldy materials can be dried and mixed with high-quality raw materials (not exceeding 10%). Severely moldy materials must be discarded to avoid affecting pellet quality.
In addition, effective insect and rodent control measures must be taken in the warehouse, including the placement of insect repellent (to avoid contaminating the raw materials). Warehouse clutter should be cleaned regularly to prevent impurities from contaminating the raw materials. For large-scale production lines, raw material testing equipment can be installed to test moisture and purity before storage, and unqualified raw materials will not be stored. At the same time, the distance between the raw material storage area and the processing area should be planned to shorten the transportation distance, reduce secondary pollution and loss of raw materials, and ensure that the vertical ring die pellet mill machine produces efficiently and stably.
