Fault 1: Loose and difficult-to-shape finished product. This is the most common problem in sawdust briquette press operation, similar to the causes of similar faults in fuel pellet making machines, but with different focuses. Core causes include: abnormal raw material moisture content (below 8% or above 12%), leading to insufficient lignin softening or decreased binding strength; excessively low heating temperature (below 160℃), resulting in incomplete lignin melting; and insufficient molding pressure, failing to achieve dense molding. Troubleshooting methods: First, use the "squeezes together in hand, crumbles easily when released" test to determine the moisture content. If too dry, spray a small amount of water to adjust; if too wet, dry the material. Increase the heating temperature and extend the preheating time through the control system. Check the gap between the pressure roller and the mold; reduce the gap to increase pressure. If the pressure roller is severely worn, replace it. When a similar fault occurs in a wood chip pellet making machine, the focus is often on adjusting the pressure roller gap and moisture content; temperature control is not necessary.
Fault 2: Material jamming and inability to feed normally in a hydraulic sawdust briquette press. This shares similar causes with material jamming in a home wood pellet maker. Main causes: Raw material particle size exceeding the standard (greater than 8mm), clogging the feeding channel and forming cavity; excessive feeding speed, causing raw material to accumulate in the forming cavity; clogged mold orifice, with hardened residual raw material hindering feeding. Troubleshooting methods: After stopping the machine, clean the clogged raw material from the feeding channel and forming cavity; screen and re-crush the excessively sized raw material; adjust the feeding speed to restore uniform feeding; disassemble the mold, use a fine steel rod to unclog the orifice, and grind away any remaining clumps on the inner wall, similar to cleaning the mold orifice of a wood pellet machine, but easier due to the larger mold orifice diameter.
Fault 3: The charcoal briquette press vibrates violently and makes obvious abnormal noises, with causes basically the same as those of electric pellet mill faults. Causes: Uneven gap between the pressure roller and mold, resulting in unbalanced force; loose connecting bolts causing component vibration; hard impurities in the raw material impacting the pressure roller and mold; worn or insufficient lubrication of the bearings causing rotational jamming. Troubleshooting methods: After stopping the machine, recalibrate the gap between the pressure roller and the die to ensure uniformity; tighten all connecting bolts, especially the anchor bolts; clean hard impurities from the raw materials and check the raw material pretreatment process; disassemble the bearings, clean off dust, and apply grease; replace the bearings if severely worn.
Fault 4: Heating temperature out of control. This is a fault specific to hydraulic biomass briquette presses. Causes: Damaged temperature sensor, unable to accurately monitor temperature; aging or short-circuited heating device wiring; control system malfunction, unable to adjust temperature. Troubleshooting methods: Replace the damaged temperature sensor and readjust; check the heating wiring, repair aging or short-circuited parts, and replace the wiring if necessary; restart the control system. If it still cannot be adjusted, contact a professional for repair. This fault is extremely rare in wood pellet machines; only auxiliary heating models may experience abnormal heating due to wiring problems.
