How to Troubleshoot Motor Overheating in a Flat Die Biomass pelletizer mill?

First, rule out the most common cause: overload operation of the Biomass fuel pellet machine. Motor overheating is often caused by excessive feed, excessive pressure in the pressing chamber, and the motor load exceeding its rated value. Solution: Immediately stop the machine and allow the motor to cool for at least 30 minutes. Then reduce the feed rate to within the machine's rated capacity. If the overload is caused by mold blockage, clear the blockage before restarting. For example, if a pellet mill with a capacity of 1 ton per hour is forced to feed 1.5 tons, the motor will definitely overload and overheat. Adjusting the feed rate back to below 1 ton will solve the problem. Additionally, excessively hard raw materials can also cause motor overload, such as a high proportion of hardwood sawdust. Mixing in softwood sawdust appropriately can reduce the motor load.

If the overload problem is ruled out, check the cooling system. Industrial wood pellet machine motors generate heat during operation, which is dissipated entirely by cooling fans and fins. If the cooling fan is not working or the fins are covered in dust, heat cannot dissipate, leading to overheating. Solutions: First, check the cooling fan. If the fan isn't turning, check if the fan motor is faulty or clogged with dust. Clean the dust; if it still doesn't turn, replace the fan. Next, use a brush or compressed air to clean the dust off the heat sink, ensuring it's clear. In summer, when temperatures are high, additional ventilation equipment can be installed in the workshop to assist with cooling.

The third common cause: Electrical wiring faults. For example, unstable voltage, loose wiring, or aging wires can all cause abnormal current in the small wood pellet machine motor, leading to overheating. Solutions: Use a multimeter to check the voltage. If the voltage fluctuation exceeds ±10%, install a voltage regulator. Check the motor's wiring terminals; tighten them if loose, and replace aging wires. Additionally, a malfunctioning overload protection device can also cause overheating; check the protection device and replace it if it's faulty. Some users have encountered frequent motor overheating tripping issues, and after checking, they found loose wiring; tightening it resolved the problem.

Tips for preventing motor overheating in daily life: First, avoid running equipment under overload for extended periods and arrange production plans reasonably; second, regularly clean the motor's cooling system to ensure unobstructed heat dissipation; third, regularly check electrical wiring and protective devices to ensure they are working properly; fourth, apply grease to the motor bearings as required by the manufacturer to reduce friction and heat generation. Remember, never force the motor to start when it is overheating; allow it to cool down completely before troubleshooting to avoid burning out the motor.
