How does a small sawdust briquette press machine operate?

Operating steps

The operation of a small wood chip briquette press machine involves multiple collaborative steps, strictly adhering to the process of "pretreatment-feeding-forming-cutting-cooling." The parameter control and equipment coordination at each stage directly determine the density, calorific value, and forming rate of the briquette. The first step, raw material pretreatment, while not part of the main operation of the wood chip briquette press, is a prerequisite for ensuring normal equipment operation: the wood chips must be crushed to a particle size of 2-8mm, removing impurities such as stones and metal, while simultaneously controlling the moisture content to 8%-12%. If the moisture content is too high, it needs to be dried to prevent cracking and loosening during forming; if the moisture content is too low, appropriate water spraying can be used to adjust it, ensuring sufficient softening of the lignin.

The second step, feeding, involves the pretreated wood chips being fed evenly into the hopper of the small wood shavings briquette maker machine via an automatic feeding device (or manual feeding). The stirring device within the hopper prevents wood chip accumulation and bridging, ensuring uniform feeding. The feeding speed must be precisely matched to the equipment's capacity. For small flat die wood chip briquetting machines, the feeding speed should be controlled at 50-100 kg/h, while for large screw extrusion machines it should be controlled at 200-500 kg/h. Feeding too quickly can easily lead to equipment overload and shutdown, while feeding too slowly will reduce capacity and waste energy.

The third step, extrusion molding, is the core process. Although the molding methods differ between different types of small wood waste briquetting machines, they all achieve lignin self-bonding through high pressure and high temperature. Taking screw extrusion as an example, wood chips are pushed into the molding chamber by a screw shaft and shaped into a columnar body under high pressure and frictional heat. Hydraulic extrusion, on the other hand, uses a pressure head and mold to form a dense block. During molding, pressure and temperature must be monitored in real time. Pressure below 10 MPa will result in insufficient density of the finished product, and temperature below 160℃ will lead to insufficient lignin softening; therefore, equipment parameters must be adjusted promptly.

The fourth step is cutting and cooling. After the columnar material is extruded from the forming hole, it is cut into 5-20cm blocks of fuel by a preset cutter. The cutting speed can be adjusted as needed to ensure uniform length. The temperature of the freshly formed product is over 100℃, so it needs to be cooled to room temperature by a cooling device (or natural cooling) to prevent high-temperature moisture absorption and deterioration. The density of the cooled product can reach 1.1-1.3g/cm³, and the calorific value is about 4500-5000kcal/kg. It can be directly stored or further carbonized.
