How to produce high-quality fuel pellets using a biomass wood Pellet machine?

Calorific value is a key indicator for measuring the energy value of fuel and needs to be controlled through raw material selection and processing technology in a small biomass wood pellet mill.

 

Different raw materials have significantly different calorific values. Wood-based raw materials (such as sawdust and bark) can have a calorific value of 4200-4800 kcal/kg, while straw raw materials have a calorific value of 3800-4200 kcal/kg. When processing mixed materials, a reasonable ratio of raw materials is necessary to ensure the fuel's calorific value meets usage requirements. During processing, excessive high-temperature drying of the raw materials should be avoided, as high temperatures cause the loss of volatile matter, reducing the calorific value. Simultaneously, the raw materials must be fully formed; loose fuel particles produce a large amount of smoke when burned, resulting in low heat utilization. It is recommended to regularly test the fuel's calorific value. If the calorific value is below standard, the raw material formula or processing parameters should be adjusted promptly. For example, a user found that the fuel's calorific value was only 3600 kcal/kg, which was insufficient for heating needs. By increasing the proportion of sawdust (from 40% to 60%), the calorific value increased to 4300 kcal/kg, meeting the usage requirements.

 

The breakage rate and storage stability of fuel also require careful control to avoid problems during subsequent use. The breakage rate of high-quality biofuel should be ≤5%, and the storage period should be ≥6 months. Controlling the breakage rate requires ensuring moderate pellet hardness, avoiding excessive hardness or softness, which can be achieved by adjusting the pressing pressure and temperature of the Wood Chip Pellet machine. Storage stability needs to be controlled from two aspects: fuel moisture content and storage environment. The moisture content of the finished fuel should be ≤15%, and the storage environment should be dry and well-ventilated to prevent mold growth due to moisture. Processed fuel pellets must be cooled to room temperature before storage to prevent condensation and mold growth caused by high-temperature storage. Regular inspection of stored fuel is recommended; if mold or clumping is found, it should be dealt with promptly to avoid affecting use.

 

In addition, the appearance quality of the fuel also needs attention. High-quality fuel pellets should have a uniform color, no obvious impurities, and a consistent length (generally 5-10mm). During processing, it is necessary to ensure uniform mixing of raw materials to avoid excessive local impurities. Pellet length can be controlled by adjusting the distance between the cutter and the mold; the cutter must be kept sharp to avoid uneven pellet length due to cutter wear. Regularly conduct comprehensive testing of fuel quality, establish quality records, optimize raw material processing and equipment parameters based on test results, and continuously improve fuel quality.
